IOP for Adults. Therapy at any age can be life-changing.

An IOP for Adults Treating Eating, Mood, and Anxiety Disorders, Including Relationship Issues and Life Transitions.

Do you need to improve the quality of your life?

Our hybrid IOP Program for Adults aims to restore psychological health, improve mood, and reduce anxiety by utilizing a developmental, relational framework. Psychological research shows that the quality of our relationships with ourselves, others, and our environment greatly impacts mental health and is key to our well-being.

Age-appropriate small groups.

Our IOP groups are intentionally small and thoughtfully designed with age in mind. Adults in midlife and older participate in age-appropriate groups, so they can engage in therapy alongside peers in similar life stages.

Are you trying to create a meaningful life?

The SpringSource IOP for Adults helps individuals navigate the unique factors associated with early, mid, and later adulthood. Our transdiagnostic* approach provides support for managing developmental transitions specific to these life stages. We assist patients in gaining insight into their relationships with themselves, focusing on their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, self-talk, and perception of their bodies.

IOP groups will also focus on helping individuals improve their relationships with others and their environment. This will include:

  • managing conflict
  • improving interpersonal effectiveness
  • increasing the ability to be appropriately vulnerable and build connections
  • operating from a wise mind in decision-making
  • anything else one can have a relationship with, such as food, habits, hobbies, and work.

* A transdiagnostic approach in mental health focuses on the underlying psychological processes that cut across multiple diagnoses, rather than treating each disorder separately. It aims to address common root causes such as emotion dysregulation, avoidance, or negative thinking patterns that contribute to a range of mental health conditions, making treatment more flexible and broadly applicable.

IOP Psychological Support for Clients Taking GLP-1s

SpringSource founders, Ph.D. psychologists Dr. Susan McClanahan and Dr. Angela Derrick, have been leaders in the eating disorder, mood, and anxiety space for decades, including extensive work with adults experiencing binge eating, compulsive overeating, body image issues, metabolic syndrome, and other eating-related concerns. With the surge in GLP-1 use, we’re seeing more adults, especially women in midlife, seeking emotional and psychological support alongside their medical treatment. We are a size-inclusive, evidence-informed practice with deep experience supporting patients across the weight spectrum.

We recognize that while these medications can be an important tool, they don’t address the underlying drivers that so often complicate care, such as stress, shame, disordered eating patterns, and body image struggles. That’s where we come in.

The Adult IOP or individual therapy, if indicated, is designed to help patients stabilize, strengthen coping skills, and build a healthier relationship with food, body, and self while on their medical journey.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults at SpringSource: Eating, Weight, and Mood Disorders

Our Boutique Services

Our customized approach, based on a positive psychology model, can support individuals dealing with eating disorders as well as mood and anxiety disorders. However, we want to emphasize that you are not defined by your illness, diagnosis, pathology, struggles, difficulties, or mental health challenges!

The developmental, relational framework incorporates empirically validated treatments, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, and EFFT, in all groups. Performance is measured using standardized assessments to track patients’ mood, anxiety levels, and other targeted symptoms. These assessments are administered by program personnel at the beginning of services, throughout the program, and upon completion of the program.

Schedule

We are mindful of keeping clients in their regular lives and have scheduled the sessions at convenient times:

  • Monday Evening: 5:30-8:30 pm
  • Wednesday Evening: 5:30-8:30 pm
  • Saturday Morning: 10:00 am-1:00 pm
