Hybrid IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
At SpringSource: Eating, Weight & Mood Disorders
Our hybrid IOP combines in-person and virtual care in Chicago, Northbrook, and across Illinois to support adults who are navigating eating disorders, weight concerns, mood disorders, and factors unique to early, mid, and later adulthood. This intensive outpatient program is for individuals who need more than weekly therapy but do not require hospitalization.

Adult IOP for Eating, Mood, and Anxiety Disorders
Support for relationship challenges, life transitions, and the emotional patterns that keep people stuck.
Our hybrid Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults provides structured, evidence-based care to reduce anxiety, stabilize mood, and support lasting mental health recovery.
We use a developmental, relational approach grounded in research showing that mental health is shaped by the quality of our relationships with ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Therapy for Life Transitions
This program is especially helpful for adults navigating the pressures of early, mid, and later adulthood, including career strain, changes in self-image, divorce, parenthood, caregiving, grief, loneliness, health changes, and relationship challenges.
Age-Appropriate Small Groups
Our IOP groups are intentionally small and thoughtfully designed with age in mind. Adults in midlife and older participate in age-appropriate groups, so they can engage in therapy alongside peers in similar life stages.
Participants learn to:
- Manage conflict
- Improve communication and interpersonal effectiveness
- Build appropriate vulnerability and connection
- Make thoughtful, values-aligned decisions
- Navigate life transitions with clarity and confidence
- Develop healthier relationships with food, habits, work, and daily life
Our transdiagnostic approach focuses on the underlying patterns that keep people stuck, rather than treating each diagnosis in isolation. This allows for flexible, whole-person care that meets you where you are and supports meaningful change.

Psychological Support for Clients Taking GLP-1s
SpringSource co-founders Dr. Susan McClanahan and Dr. Angela Derrick have decades of experience treating eating, mood, and anxiety disorders. As GLP-1 use has surged, we are seeing more adults, especially women in midlife, seeking emotional support alongside medical care. We are a size-inclusive, evidence-informed practice with deep expertise across the weight spectrum.
While GLP-1 medications can be a powerful tool, they do not address stress, shame, disordered eating patterns, or body image struggles. That is where we come in.
Our Adult IOP and individual therapy provide structured support to help clients stabilize, build coping skills, and develop a healthier relationship with food, body, and self during their medical journey.

SpringSource is CARF Accredited
SpringSource has earned a three-year CARF accreditation for its Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Adults. This designation recognizes that our program meets internationally recognized standards for quality, safety, and clinical excellence, and reflects our ongoing commitment to the highest level of care.
